When an application subjects a complex fluid to small confinements, bulk rheological measurements may not predict the fluid behavior in the restrictive geometeries.

With the Vilastic Porous Media System and the Vilastic Microcapillary System the Vilastic VE and Vilastic-3 can be expanded to measure both the viscous and elastic effects of complex fluids in small confinements.

The Microcapillary System is available with capillary sizes of 0.5 mm to .05 mm i.d. The Porous Media System is available with pore sizes of ~ 0.08 mm (~ permeability of 1.2E-6 cm^2 ).

With either system and the measurement protocols of VMax discover the viscosity and elasticity of a fluid in small confinements as a function of shear rate, shear strain, stress, frequency, time or temperature.
